Why we made it
We made the PolYmers because of the Race Project. We wanted every rider to compete on the same wheel, which meant creating an easy race wheel that felt safe and predictable for intermediate riders while still offering enough roll speed and edge grip for advanced racers to push hard. Affordability was also essential for the Race Project, which is why we chose to manufacture them in China in order to achieve the best possible balance between quality and cost.
Who is it for
The PolYmers are designed as a true all round downhill wheel. Their smooth and predictable slide characteristics make them easy to control, with a very consistent release and hookup, while the sharp lips provide enough edge grip to stay confident through corners. For intermediate riders, they are an approachable first step into downhill wheels thanks to their forgiving and easy to ride nature. For advanced riders, the PolYmers are the do it all option. Their exceptional resistance to flat spots and highly consistent behavior make them especially well suited for long sessions, demanding mountain runs, and open road skating.
What are the specs
The PolYmers feature a 76 mm diameter and a 65 mm contact patch, poured in our 76A SP1 formula. After extensive testing, we found 76A to offer the best balance between comfort, consistency, and roll speed, while also providing excellent resistance to flat spots for long lasting performance. Their shape uses a relatively thin urethane layer, giving the wheels their sharp feel and fast acceleration. The thin lip profile provides a precise and supportive edge while maintaining smooth slide characteristics. The wheels are centerset with near symmetrical lips, allowing them to be rotated for a longer lifespan and more even wear.
Quality engagement
The PolYmers follow our batch tracking policy, meaning every production run is identified with a unique batch ID such as 117601. The first digit refers to the shape, the second to the formula generation such as SP1 or SP2, the following two digits indicate the durometer, and the last two digits correspond to the production batch number. This system allows us to ensure full traceability across every wheel we produce. We are committed to being transparent and honest about production quality and consistency. If an issue ever appears within a specific batch, we use these batch IDs to identify the affected wheels quickly and work toward a solution that is fair and transparent for everyone involved.

Skate like Ritchi
Ritchi’s been with La Paulade since the very beginning. He’s a real try-harder - fighting his way up, crashing, learning, and charging again. That’s the spirit behind his riding, and exactly why the PolYmers are his Pro Model.
Q&A
Most asked questions regarding our PolYmers
Are the PolYmers centerset?
Yes, the PolYmers are centerset. However, there’s a slight asymmetry in the lip profile:
the cutting side is slightly thicker and sharper, which gives a bit more edge feel when the wheels are fresh. The inprint side is thinner, meaning it will deforms more under load once the skin is gone. You can flip the wheels, and some riders do it early on to get a touch more grip and hookup from the sharper cutting lip.
Do the PolYmers have swirls?
Some PolYmers may show visible cosmetic swirls depending on the batch. These swirls have been purely visual - we’ve never experienced uneven wear or performance issues as a result. Batch 117602 had the most noticeable swirls, so we made improvements to the production process. So far, batch 117603 looks much cleaner and closer to what we originally intended.
Do the PolYmers chunk?
The La Paulade Classic formula is quite resilient and holds up well against chunking. Like any high-rebound urethane, chunks can happen - typically after a crash or a hard freestyle-style landing on an incline. But in regular downhill or freeride use, even on rough pavement, chunking shouldn’t be an issue.
